Malaria N° 8 - Subject N° 5

ACTIVITY REPORT YEAR 1996. REPUBLIC OF TOGO
A. Gayibor, A.E. d'Almeida

SUMMARY
The most significant event in 1996 was the holding, for the first time in Togo, of a National Seminar for Public Involvement in the fight against Malaria the theme of which was "Preventing Malaria by the use of impregnated mosquito nets". This event was a decisive turning point in our antimalarial programme.

The objectives accepted for the 1995-1998 plan are as follows:

  1. To ensure the correct management in 90% of cases of malaria, especially in pregnancy and in children under 5 years of age;
  2. To promote the use of impregnated materials in at least 30% of households;
  3. To ensure that correct chemotherapy is administered to 80% of pregnant women.
